The story
#

Kingdom of Italy, 1861–1946: the royal coat of arms for the King, the papal keys for the Pope, and the Italian flag for the Prime Minister

Italy, 1861. The peninsula has finally been unified under one crown, but the new nation is anything but settled. For the next eighty-five years, through social revolution, war, and the rise of fascism, three powers compete to shape its future: the King, the Pope, and the Prime Minister.

As a powerful leader of this turbulent era, you must choose your leaders and causes wisely and adapt to your opponents’ tactics to win.

Your role
#

Support Italy’s King, Pope, and Prime Minister to gain control of a newly unified Italy. Devise clever strategies to build your political, economic, and military power base. Grow your strength by adding cities and their resources, appointing political leaders, and leading military attacks.

But beware!
#

Your enemies have strategies of their own, military, political, and economic, and they will exploit any weakness. Allies may turn into enemies, deposing your leaders, stirring up revolts in your cities, and seizing your income and might.

Kingdom of Italy recreates the turmoil and tactics of Italy’s past and brings a new level of competition to card games. Diplomacy, risk-taking, military planning, deception, and sudden turns of fortune are all paths to gaining the upper hand.

The choices are yours
#

  • Will you seek friendship and allies, or take what could be yours?
  • Will you appoint leaders who support Pope Pius XI, or secularize cities to take over Parliament?
  • Will you employ spies and instigate revolts to overthrow the leading player, or focus on building military might?

The choices and their consequences are yours in the Kingdom of Italy.
